The Witness ministries of the church give attention
to developing and strengthening evangelistic efforts of sharing personal
and congregational stories of Christian experience, faith, and service;
communications and other means that give expressions of witness for Jesus
Christ. This group helps to contact first time visitors, organize newcomer
events, and make sure our prospective members know the warmth of DUMC.
WITNESS WORK AREAS:
- Contact
Visitors- Members of the Committee contact our first time visitors welcoming
them to Dilworth and help
 assimilate them into our congregation.
- New
Members Sunday- New Members Sunday is the 4th
Sunday of every month.
Persons who wish to join may contact one of the pastors prior to
that day or come forward at the end of the service when the announcement
is made.
- Ministers’ Coffee-
This class is an information session about the church. It is offered
on the 2nd Sunday of each month at 10 Am in the Senior Minister’s
office.
- New
Member Social- A New Member Social is held 2 to 3 times each year.
All new members since the previous event are invited. This is usually
held in the home of one of our members and is an opportunity to
get to know others in the church in a relaxed and informal setting.
- Fellowship
Friends- New members are assigned a Fellowship Friend who helps
get them involved in the programs and ministries of Dilworth.
- Fall
Festival- Held in October, the Fall Festival is a way of inviting
the Dilworth Community to join us for a time of fun, food and fellowship.
- Bring
a Friend Sunday- Once a year, we designate a Sunday as Bring-A-Friend
Sunday. Everyone in the congregation is encouraged to bring a friend
with them to worship.
- Nametag
ministry-witness provides ordering envelopes, ordering and delivery
to members who purchase nametags and provide nametags to new members
as they join.
